Richard W. Teipen, 75, of Seymour, passed away Wednesday, Feb. 11, 2015, at his residence.

Born June 20, 1939, in Jackson County, he was the son of Tony and Pollie Waskom Teipen Sr., both of whom preceded him in death. On April 13, 1962, in Salem, he married Conita A. Holstine, who preceded him in death June 19, 2008.

He served in the Indiana National Guard, was a member of the Jackson County Sheriff’s Posse since 1997 and was a retired farmer. He enjoyed pulling his team of mules, playing euchre, trail-riding with his friends and four-wheeling with his companion, Tina.

Survivors include two sons, Tim Teipen and Jeffrey (Peggy) Teipen, both of Seymour; a daughter, Lisa Murphy of Seymour; four grandchildren, Jeremy Murphy, Evan Murphy, Teddie Teipen and Ashley Teipen, all of Seymour; and a great-granddaughter, Skylee Murphy of Seymour.

In addition to both parents and his wife, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Tony Teipen and George “Bill” Teipen.

The funeral service will be at noon Monday at Spurgeon Funeral Home Inc. in Brownstown with Pastor Scott Brown officiating. Burial will be at Little York Cemetery in Washington County.

Visitation will be from 1 to 5 p.m. Sunday and from 11 a.m. until time of service Monday at the funeral home.
