With a strong response to the idea of showcasing past photos, The Tribune is running a weekly feature called “Throwback Thursday.”

The Tribune will display photos from past Jackson County athletics.

We would like your photos and memories. Please email sports editor Jordan Morey at [email protected] or call him at 812-523-7069.

(Following information is for this week’s feature)

Interest in athletics increased in the fall of 1911 when Tampico High School was reorganized and basketball became the major sport.

The Bobcats won the Brownstown basketball consolation tournament Jan. 28, 1928.

In 1963, Tampico was consolidated with Brownstown’s school district.

This week’s photo was submitted by Mrs. Jerald Helen Prince. The late Jerald Prince, a graduate of Tampico High School, took the photo.
