Jewell “Fern” Cole, 86, of Seymour, passed away Monday, Feb. 9, 2015.

Born Sept. 30, 1928, in Jackson County, she was the daughter of Hobart and Nelle Hildreth Murphy. On July 3, 1948, she married Paul R. Cole, who passed away Jan. 17, 2008.

Fern was an active member of Honeytown Christian Church. She was employed part time at Excello Shirt Factory and worked in the office at Lutheran Community Home for several years.

Survivors include a daughter, Sherry Lyn (Mark) Browning; a son, Dennis Cole; grandchildren, Chris (Jessie) Cole, Nate (Maggie) Cole and Chad (Karen) Browning; and seven great-grandchildren.

Besides her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a brother, Ivan Murphy; sisters, Alice Fleetwood and Fairy Ballard; and daughter-in-law, Sue Cole.

The funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Voss Chapel in Seymour with the Rev. Nelson Lee officiating. Burial will follow at Acme Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until time of service Saturday at the funeral home.
