Patricia A. “Pat” Toppe, 84 of Seymour passed away Sunday morning, Feb. 8, 2015, at her home, exactly 17 years to the day that her husband, Robert E. Toppe, passed on. As Pat was taking her last breath, her daughter, Mary Jo, was reciting the Hail Mary prayer for her.

Born April 18, 1930, in New Albany, she was the daughter of the late Schuyler and Agnes E. Plunkett Hargrove. After graduating from Shields High School, she married Robert E. Toppe in Seymour on Nov. 26, 1948. He passed away Feb. 8, 1998, in Seymour.

Pat was a very faithful member of St. Ambrose Catholic Church and a homemaker. She was a member of the Elks Ladies Auxiliary, the hospital guild and the boys club auxiliary. She enjoyed the garden club and loved the days they made floral arrangements.

Survivors include four children, Robert W. “Bob” (Deanie) Toppe, Timothy P. (Robin) Toppe, Mary Jo (Jerry) Gallion and Victoria J. “Vickie” (Robyn) Toppe; six grandchildren, Michele D. Toppe, Robert A. Toppe, Patricia J. Lynn Toppe, William L. Gallion, Elizabeth L. Toppe and Katherine E. Toppe; and eight great-grandchildren, Nick, Alex, Julia, Patricia, Tatiana, Conner, Sophia and Carson.

Besides her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a son, Michael F. Toppe; and sisters, Mary Jean Richart and Joan Terkhorn.

A funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Ambrose Catholic Church with Father Dan Staublin and Deacon Mike East officiating.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Voss Chapel and from 9 a.m. until time of service Thursday at the church. Burial will follow at Riverview Cemetery with a dove release.

The family would like to invite friends to the rosary service at 3:30 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
