Health care information session, enrollment set

Schneck Foundation is conducting an information session at 6 p.m. Wednesday in the auditorium at Schneck Medical Center in Seymour.

Anyone interested in learning how to obtain health insurance under the provisions of the Affordable Care Act is invited to attend this event. Enrollment appointments will be available for attendees Thursday and Friday before Sunday’s deadline.

This will be one of the last opportunities for those without health insurance to sign up for the Health Insurance Marketplace and avoid uninsured tax penalties, according to a news release from the hospital.

Attendees will learn about the Health Insurance Marketplace and sign up for free and get one-on-one help from a certified navigator. Navigators offer unbiased advice and can help consumers enroll in low- or no-cost insurance through the Marketplace or Medicaid.

The Marketplace offers private health insurance with savings based on your income. Plans cover health benefits, pre-existing conditions and preventive care. Most people who apply through the Marketplace qualify for premium tax credits and savings on out-of-pocket costs based on household size and income.
