Health care navigator to set up shop at library

A health care navigator will be at the Jackson County Public Library in Seymour to help people sign up for health care insurance before the Feb. 15 deadline.

The public is invited to take advantage of this free service provided by navigator Michelle Schapker, who is sponsored by Planned Parenthood of Indiana and Kentucky.

Hours of the program are noon to 2 p.m. Saturday and Wednesday; 1 to 4 p.m. Thursday; and 1 to 3:30 p.m. Feb. 15.

Each person must bring information about their household, home and/or mailing addresses for everyone applying for coverage, Social Security numbers, document information for legal immigrants, employer and income information for every member of the household, a best estimate of what the household income will be in 2015, policy numbers for any current health insurance plans covering members of the household, a completed “Employer Coverage Tool” for every job-based plan anyone in your household is eligible for, and notices from any current health insurance plan that includes the plan ID and if there is or was health coverage in 2014.

Anyone unable to meet with Schapker at the library can find a local health care insurance expert, or navigator, by going online to localhelp.healthcare.gov.

Consumers also may call 800‑318‑2596 to get personal assistance and to get help in languages other than English.

For information about the health care navigator service being offered at the library, contact Becky Brewer at 812-522-3412, ext. 1239.
