Retired teachers group planning meeting


Jackson Country Retired Teachers Association will meet at noon Feb. 19 at First United Methodist Church, 201 E. Third St., Seymour.

Following lunch, Jan Sipes will present a program portraying Julia Dent Grant during the Civil War. Julia Grant was the wife of Ulysses S. Grant, who was commanding general of the Union Army during the war. Ulysses Grant became president in 1869.

As part of the program, local historian Dick Rumph will talk about Indiana’s role in the Civil War.

Retired teachers from public and parochial schools are welcome to attend and join the association.

Reservations must be made by Feb. 16 by calling Donna Sullivan at 812-522-9637. Dues for 2014-15 may be paid at the meeting or by mail to treasurer Connie Gerth.
