Carol Ann Swanson, 61, passed away at 11:26 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 29, 2015, at her home in Washington County.

Born March 23, 1953, in Kokomo, she was the daughter of Earnie O. and Emma F. Smith Jackson. Her mother survives in Salem. On Feb. 26, 1972, Carol married her high school sweetheart, Hiram Carl “Carlo” Swanson, who survives.

Other survivors include a daughter, Emily (Jason) Cockerill of Salem; a brother, Thomas “Tommy” Jackson, Gainesville, Georgia; a sister, Linda (Jackson) Lewis of Terre Haute; and three precious granddaughters, Aynslie, Brinley and Parker Cockerill.

Carol, also known as “Grammy,” spent as much time as she possibly could spoiling her girls rotten — which she did successfully. As much as Carol loved her family, she lived every day to serve Jesus. She showed everyone she knew and met the love of Christ through her humor and compassion. Carol loved her church family and was an active member of Salem Church of the Nazarene. Her family and friends will miss her greatly.

The funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Salem Church of the Nazarene, 402 N. Harrison St. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until time of service Wednesday at the church.

Dawalt Funeral Home Inc. in Salem is handling arrangements.
