Patricia J. “Patty” Bakes Works, 91, of Allensville, died Sunday, Jan. 11, 2015, at her home.

Born July 18, 1923, in Jacksonville, she was the daughter of Charles A. and Mabel Hall Bakes. Her parents preceded her in death.

She was raised in Jacksonville and was a 1941 graduate of Vevay High School. On Nov. 20, 1941, in Patriot, she was united in marriage to Loren Edwin Works, and to this union arrived two sons to bless their home. Her husband preceded her in death.

She was a former assistant cashier for East Enterprise State Bank and later for Vevay Deposit Bank East Enterprise branch for 28 years. She resided for a brief time in Madison and Columbus but resided most of her life with her husband on the family farm in Allensville until her death. She was a member of Allensville United Methodist Church. Later, she moved her membership to Aberdeen United Methodist Church.

Survivors include sons, Roger E. (Janet) Works of Seymour and Andrew J. Works of Scipio; grandchildren, Esta J. Works, Rich (Teara) Works, Scott (Magon) Works and Keri A. (Ryan) Cool; great-grandchildren, Cole Works, Carson Works, Luke Cool, Isaiah Cool and Lauren Cool; sister, Theo Ralston of Madison; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Besides her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by brother, Hal Hall Bakes; and sisters, Martha Alice Hamilton-Liggett and Charlene Baird.

The funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Haskell & Morrison Funeral Home, 208 Ferry St., Vevay. Interment will be at Vevay Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
