Adria Lee Applegate, 86, of Scottsburg, passed away Thursday, Nov. 27, 2014, at her residence.

Born April 17, 1928, in Lee County, Kentucky, she was the daughter of the late Marvin and Callie Cole Combs.

Adria was a former nurse’s aide at the old Scottsburg Nursing Home and also worked at Campbell’s Motel in Scottsburg. She was a member of Seymour Community Church, enjoyed quilt making and operated a ministry at the Scott County Jail for 36 years.

Survivors include six sons, Randall E. (Anna) Applegate and Elza L. Applegate, bothof Scottsburg, Andrew (Mary) Applegate and Lloyd J. (Bunny) Applegate, both of Seymour, Michael R. (Malinda) Applegate of Winchester, Kentucky, and James E. (Norita) Applegate of Crothersville; three daughters, Lois Y. (Elbert) Campbell and Opal M. Bridgewater, both of Scottsburg, and Tootsie (Jerry) Hatton of Somerset, Kentucky; a brother, Omer (Juanita) Combs of Austin; two sisters, Jeanette (Robert) Mays of Stanton, Kentucky, and Lucille Townsend of McKee, Kentucky; 19 grandchildren; and 30 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond Eugene Applegate; three brothers, Otis, James and Odell Combs; and two sisters, Elloree Mays and Betty Mae Townsend.

A funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Sunday at Collins Funeral Home in Scottsburg. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until time of service Sunday at the funeral home. Burial will be at Scottsburg Cemetery.
