Community foundation seeking #GivingTuesday donations

The Community Foundation of Jackson County is asking area residents to consider giving to local charities — including the endowments administered by the foundation — on #GivingTuesday.

Gifts to the foundation can earn matching dollars from the Lilly Endowment, potentially doubling a donor’s gift to help improve life for many in Jackson County, said Dan Davis, foundation president and chief executive officer.

The third annual #GivingTuesday will take place Dec. 2, right after Black Friday, Shop Small Saturday and Cyber Monday.

This holiday season, giving to the foundation can multiply your gift with matching funds from the Lilly Endowment. For instance, gifts to the foundation’s unrestricted funds, such as the Jackson County Community Endowment, can earn 1-for-1 matching dollars from the Lilly Endowment. Gifts to other endowments, such as scholarships and donor-advised funds, can earn 50 cents in Lilly Endowment matching money for every dollar donated.

Donors can turn to The Giving Place at the foundation’s website, cfjacksoncounty.org, which provides a one-stop shop for charitable gifts and has many of the needs of Jackson County nonprofit organizations classified.

You also can donate through The Giving Place to the Jackson County Community Endowment, which helps finance the foundation’s fall grant cycle.

“This tool simplifies the giving process and answers the question to how your donation dollars are being spent,” Davis said.

You also can stop by the foundation office, 107 Community Drive, Seymour, to make a donation.
