State District 65 Rep. Eric Koch, R-Bedford, has been reappointed to serve as the assistant majority caucus chairman and will continue to serve as chairman of the House Utilities, Energy and Telecommunications Committee.

The assistant caucus chairman serves as an adviser to the Speaker of the House, who is state District 88 Rep. Brian C. Bosma, R-Indianapolis.

The assistant caucus chairman also serves in a variety of roles, including caucus management and development of legislative priorities, according to the announcement made by Bosma.

Standing committees are an integral part of the legislative process, according to a news release from Bosma. Committees with specific expertise receive public testimony and work out the details of proposed legislation before it is heard on the House floor.

Koch’s district includes all of Brown County, most of Lawrence County and parts of Monroe, Jackson and Johnson counties.
