Oscar D. Massey Jr., 80, of North Vernon, passed away Thursday, Nov. 20, 2014, at Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis.

Born May 18, 1934, he was the son of the late Oscar and Alta Shipley Massey. On Feb. 14, 1954, he married the love of his life, Sherry Weddell Massey.

Oscar retired in 1990 from Delco Remy after 37 years of service. He was a member of Apostolic Pentecostal Tabernacle in Seymour and Westport Pentecostal Church, a former member of Windfall Pentecostal Church, a member of United Automobile Workers 662, and was a former Elwood resident. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, woodworking, spending time with family and partaking in his morning Bible readings.

Survivors include his loving wife of 60 years, Sherry Weddell Massey of North Vernon; sons, Dean (Kathy Isenberg) Massey of Indianapolis, Kert (Judy Tinch) Massey of Anderson; daughter, Pamela (Dave) Long of Windfall; sister, Lucille Massey of Naples, Florida; and grandchildren, Shawnee Massey, Dusta Hinkle, Seth Long, Schyler Massey and Kaylee Massey.

He was preceded in death by his father, Oscar D. Massey Sr.; mother, Alta V. Massey; and brothers, Robert and Charles Massey.

A funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Windfall Pentecostal Church with Brothers Larry and Aaron Arrowood, Jay Harden, Gerald Sharp, Carrol McGruder and Pastor Tim Cooper officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Park in Elwood.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday at Seymour Apostolic Pentecostal Tabernacle and from 10 a.m. until time of service Tuesday at Windfall Pentecostal Church.

Memorial contributions may be made to Apostolic Pentecostal Tabernacle in Seymour.
