SEYMOUR
Paul Richard Bobb, age 83, of Seymour, passed away on Saturday, October 26, 2024, at Schneck Medical Center, Seymour, after a short stay. He was surrounded by his loving family.
Mr. Bobb was a lifelong member of Emanuel Lutheran Church in Dudleytown, where he held various church offices and served on numerous committees.
Richard worked as a tool and die maker with Excel Tool Manufacturing, Inc. for over 20 years. He was also a dedicated farmer, working alongside his father throughout his childhood. In 1972, he and his wife, Janet, purchased the family farm, which they continued to run and operate with their late son, Matt.
Family was of utmost importance to Richard. He loved spending time with them and enjoyed attending various sporting events of his grandchildren, as well as watching sports on television. He also took great joy in watching his grandchildren open gifts at Christmas time.
Early in life, Richard enjoyed camping and horseback riding, as a member of the Spurs and Wheels Saddle Club. He also loved square dancing and later became a longtime member of the Star Promenaders Square Dance Club.
Born on April 15, 1941, at his home in Dudleytown, Richard was the son of Henry “Hank” and Opal (Kerkhof) Bobb, both of whom preceded him in death. On August 27, 1961, he married Janet Kay Elmore at Emanuel Lutheran Church, Dudleytown, and she survives in Seymour. Richard and Janet later renewed their wedding vows on December 9, 1990.
Survivors also include one son, Mark Wayne (Janet) Bobb of Seymour; daughter-in-law, Kimberly Sue (Olson) Bobb of Seymour; eight grandchildren: Glen (Stephanie) Sawyer, Mark (Holly) Sawyer, Bobbie Sue (Travis) Sweany, Emily (fiance Seth Stuckwisch) Bobb, Morgan Bobb, Jamie Bobb, McKenna Bobb, and Tyler Bobb; nine great-grandchildren: Ashley (Daniel) Bohall, Alissa (Jake) Mitchell, Corbin Baker, Carly Baker, Brady Sawyer, Cassidy Sawyer, Chase Sawyer, Trey Sweany, and Trigg Sweany; six great-great-grandchildren: Sawyer Bohall, Eleanor Bohall, Silas Bohall, Everly Bohall, Ryder Hurley, and Conner Mitchell; one brother, Garry (Sandy) Bobb of Seymour; one sister, Carol (Glenn) Tormoehlen of Brownstown; and two sisters-in-law: Patty Elmore and Joan Elmore, both of Seymour.
Richard was also preceded in death by two sons: Michael Allen Bobb and Matthew Lynn Bobb; father-in-law and mother-in-law: Curtis and Blonie (Nicholson) Elmore; one sister, Delores Benson; and four brothers-in-law: Richard Elmore, James Elmore, Herb Elmore, and Don Benson.
Funeral services for Paul Richard Bobb will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, October 30, 2024, at Emanuel Lutheran Church, Dudleytown, with Pastor Kenneth Davidson officiating. Friends may call from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, October 29, 2024, at Spurgeon Funeral Home, Inc., Brownstown, and from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, October 30, 2024, at Emanuel Lutheran Church, Dudleytown.
Interment will follow at Emanuel Lutheran Church, Dudleytown.
Memorials may be given to Emanuel Lutheran Church, Dudleytown, or the Wounded Warrior Project.
