BROWNSTOWN — The Brownstown Central Community School Corp. board of school trustees recognized the Braves of the Month for October during a meeting Tuesday night at the administration office.

Those honored were Brownstown Central High School junior Madison Bennett, Brownstown Central Middle School seventh-grader Aderes Pavlik and Brownstown Elementary School fifth-grader Dawson Hochstedler.

Brownstown Elementary School Principal Marty Young said Hochstedler as the Little Brave of the Month for art by art teacher Mendy Stahl.

“He has a natural gift for drawing and is a pleasure to have in class,” Stahl wrote. “He has been drawing detailed pictures of ships, animals, and landscapes since kindergarten.

“He regularly brings me artwork that he has worked on at home. Each year his talent grows. In addition, his projects and artwork in class are outstanding every week. His work always shows creativity, originality, and hard work, and I love that he is confident enough as an artist to put his own spin on some of our projects. I enjoy seeing his art and displaying it for others to see.”

Young said he would like to add Dawson is a fun student to be around.

“He is always smiling and working hard,” Young said. “Dawson puts full effort into everything he does and displays our Brave Way initiative at all times. He is always showing kindness and respect to others. We are lucky to have Dawson at BES.”

Brownstown Central Middle School Principal Doug McClure said Aderes was selected by the seventh-grade teachers.

They wrote that he consistently models the Three R’s (Respect, Responsibility, and Resourcefulness) at Brownstown Central Middle School.

“All of Aderes’ teachers agree that he is a pleasure to have in class because he maintains a pleasant and positive attitude while being respectful towards his teachers and fellow classmates,” McClure read. “Aderes demonstrates responsibility and maturity at BCMS. He excels in the classroom by participating in class discussions, completing assignments on time, studying for tests, and giving his best effort on state assessments.

“Aderes is a resourceful student who asks questions when necessary and can overcome any academic challenge he encounters. As a member of the Braves Football team, Aderes also demonstrates good sportsmanship and strong mental and physical fortitude. With his friendly personality, strong work ethic, and positive attitude, Aderes has a bright future ahead.”

Brownstown Central High School Principal Joe Sheffer said Bennett was nominated by the foreign language department teachers.

“Madison is a dedicated student and always strives to do her best,” Sheffer read from her nomination letter.

“She is kind, compassionate and generous with her classmates. With her fantastic attitude and work ethic, Madison will be successful in anything she attempts in life. Mrs. Kendall says that it has been an absolute joy to have Madison in class for the past 2 plus years,” he read. “We are very appreciative of Madison’s efforts.
