Trinity Lutheran

The annual Cougar Classic took place at Trinity Lutheran High School on Saturday morning. All the rain postponed the outside events.

Trinity found their groove and never let in, defeating Jennings County and then dominating Mitchell to improve to 16-6 on the season.

The Cougars defeated the Panthers, 25-19, and 25-21, before defeating the Bluejackets, 25-9, and 25-9. Trinity Head Coach Janet VanLiew spoke on the outcome after the tournament.

“We came out strong against a very good Jennings County team. We maintained a high level of play both offensively and defensively,” VanLiew said. “We continued our strong play throughout the Mitchell match.”

Throughout the day, Carson Bowling led the team in kills (17), while Madison Keith and Rachel Bonde were second with 12 each. Laura Roeder led the team in aces (3).
