A 2002 Seymour High School graduate recently strutted the red carpet at the 76th Emmys at the Peacock Theater in Los Angles, California, for his work on a State Farm Super Bowl commercial featuring Arnold Schwarzenegger.

Brian Culp hit the red carpet with his wife, Maggie, dressed to the nines along with others who made the commercial possible.

“It was a surreal experience, and while we didn’t win, I felt very fortunate and honored to be a nominee,” he told The Tribune.

The commercial, known for Schwarzenegger’s rendition of the popular insurance company’s jingle, “Like a Good Neighbaaa” was nominated for an Emmy as one of the best commercials of the year.

The winner of outstanding commercial for this year was “Fuzzy Feelings” by Apple iPhone and Mac. Other nominees include Apple iPhone 15, Uber One and Uber Eats, Sandy Hook Promise and CeraVe Moisturizing Cream.

The 60-second State Farm commercial which featured a surprise cameo, Danny Devito, at the end won the hearts of Super Bowl viewers winning USA Today’s 36th Ad Meter contest.

Culp, the son of Jeff and Martha Culp, played competitively in football and basketball at Seymour High School throughout his four years, participating in many magical winning years for the school.

In his senior year, Culp and Ross Wiethoff set a combined record for longest passing play of 89 yards against Floyd Central, landing them a touchdown.

Also, as a senior at DePauw University, Culp was one of 325 athletes selected to participate in the NCAA Leadership Conference.

Culp now works as a group creative director with Highdive, an independently owned, Chicago, Illinois-based advertising agency.
