Seymour, Brownstown Central, Trinity Lutheran

Three schools in Jackson County competed at the Brown County Eagle Classic on Saturday morning. Shane Ratliff broke the Brownstown Central school record for a race with a time of 15.44. The previous mark was held by Craig Fiscus in 1987 who had a time of 15:52. Chance Ratliff finished in 28th place with a time of 16:08.80.

The brothers competed in the Elite Race at the Invite, there was also an AA division which Seymour competed in, and the A division which featured the rest of Brownstown Central. Gracie Adams (18th) and Ty Tormoehlen (23rd) had the best finishes for the Owls on Saturday.

Trinity Lutheran had most of their roster compete in the freshman/sophomore race. The Owls also had some competitors in the same race.

Trinity’s best performances were from Cheyenne Campbell (29th) and Oliver Eggersman (72nd).

Crothersville

The Tigers registered a runner-up finish on Saturday at the Jac-Cen-Del Invitational. Hagerstown won the boys’ race with a team score of 63, while Crothersville finished second with 68 team points.

Gabriel Riehle of Milan won the boys’ race with a time of 16:13.36. Crothersville had their best performances from Koby Davis (5th) and Dirk Crater (6th). Beau Napier finished in 11th place, while Kolton Blevins ended in 26th. Brayden Heath (31st) and Kaleb Moller (34th) rounded out the scoring for the Tigers.

Non scoring finishes came from Braxton Riley (40th), Josh Reynolds (44th), Jude Howard (63rd), Gage Howard (73rd), and Evan Lanning (80th).

Seymour

The Owls went north on Saturday to compete in the Shelbyville Invite, winning the tournament after defeating Columbus East, Shelbyville, and East Central to secure the victory.

Seymour won two of their matches by the score of 5-0, defeating the Olympians and Trojans. The Owls defeated the Golden Bears 5-1, improving to 13-2 on the season. Seymour travels to Columbus East on Thursday for a match at 5 p.m.

Trinity Lutheran

The Cougars came super close to winning their conference tournament at Hanover College on Saturday.

After defeating Milan 5-0 in the first round of the tournament, Trinity Lutheran dropped the championship match against the Rebels, 3-2.

Reed Roeder and Will Gausmann were No. 2 doubles champions after winning both matches. Both players were also selected to the All-Conference team.

Trinity will host Brown County tonight at 5 p.m., before hosting Brownstown Central tomorrow at 4:30 p.m.

The Lady Cougars traveled south to face Corydon Central on Saturday, dropping the meeting with the Panthers 10-0. Trinity Lutheran is scheduled to host Scottsburg tonight for a match at 6 p.m. They will travel to Shawe Memorial for a match with the Hilltoppers tomorrow at the same time.

The Lady Owls won the Connersville Invite on Saturday, defeating three teams to secure the tournament victory. Seymour improved to 12-7 on the season after defeating Pike, Connersville, and Rising Sun.

Greer Henry recorded the most aces with 33, while Norah Campbell led the team with 8 kills.

Carson Bowling racked up 22 kills. Addie Darlage led in aces (6), and assists (36). Laura Roeder led the team in digs with 15 of them.

Four Trinity players were also given special volleyballs for career statistics.

Madison Keith got one for 500 kills and 500 digs in her career. Bowling received one for 1,000 kills. Roeder for 1,500 digs and Darlage for 3,000 assists.
