The former manager of the Kentucky Fried Chicken in Seymour was arrested Tuesday after stealing more than $7,000 from the establishment over a recent six-month period, police report.

Aimee J. Brooks, 40, of Seymour faces Level 6 felonies of theft, neglect of a dependent and maintaining a common nuisance and Class A misdemeanors of possession of marijuana and possession of paraphernalia, according to Lt. C.J. Foster with the Seymour Police Department.

Brooks was booked into the Jackson County Jail in Brownstown at 1:17 p.m. Tuesday currently with a bond pending status.

On Friday, patrol officers received a report from KFC management that an employee had been taking money from the store.

That employee identified as Brooks allegedly documented that money was being put into the safe, but numbers were not matching up, Foster said.

Once evidence was obtained, investigators located Brooks at her residence in Seymour on Tuesday.

When investigators contacted Brooks at her home, they noticed the odors of cannabis coming from the location, Foster said.

Once investigators received permission to search the residence they located weed, drug paraphernalia and equipment for a cannabis growing operation, Foster said. There also were children in the home at the time.

After being interviewed regarding the theft from KFC, Brooks admitted to stealing money from the establishment, Foster said.

Charges are being requested on other suspects, Foster said.
