SEYMOUR

Roselyn Ann (Cruey) McCormick was born on November 20, 1943, to Orville and Vera Cruey of Holgate, Ohio. She passed away peacefully on August 26, 2024, at Columbus Regional Hospital, Columbus, Indiana, leaving behind a legacy of love and devoted care that touched the lives of many.

Growing up in Lima, Ohio Roselyn attended Lima Senior High School and graduated in 1961. She earned a degree in Elementary Education from Bowling Green State University in 1965. After a brief teaching career with the Carman School District in Flint, Michigan, she left teaching to be a full-time homemaker and mom. Later in life the activities of her grandchildren became the source of her joy and happiness. She was their biggest fan, always proud of their achievements, and loved them immensely.

Rose met the love of her life, Jim McCormick, while attending a dear friend’s wedding. They married on August 18, 1967, and shared 57 years of companionship. They have two children, Jamie (Gregory) Marshall of Seymour, Indiana and Jim (Stacy) McCormick of McHenry, Illinois.

Family members include her sister, Bobbe Dubyne of East Tawas, Michigan; four grandchildren, Brady (Morgan) Marshall, Bridget Marshall, Mason McCormick and Morgan McCormick; her nephew, Daniel Dubyne; niece, Susan Cook; grand-nephews Anthony McCormick and Brandon McCormick; sisters-in-law, Agnes Hempfling and Patricia McCormick; along with numerous nieces and nephews.

Roselyn considered her life’s role to be a wife, mother, grandmother and faithful friend and confidant. She had the heart of a servant, always putting the needs of others before her own. She shared a special bond with her friends, whom she considered as dear as family. She will be remembered for the quiet courage she displayed in dealing with her chronic kidney disease and the pain of rheumatoid arthritis, the warmth she shared, the joy she found in little things and the profound impact she made on those she loved.

In carrying out her calling she served as a Cub Scout Den Mother, Brownie Scout Leader, classroom mom, loyal sports fan, nurse, counselor, teacher, housekeeper, chauffeur, activities director, lifeguard, babysitter and “the glue of the family”. Family meals were extremely important to her, and she loved family gatherings and talking with friends on the phone. She also enjoyed playing “Words With Friends”, Scrabble and Pinochle, taking care of her African violets, and just resting quietly while listening to Elvis.

Roselyn was a member of St. Ambrose Church in Seymour where a funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, August 31 at 11:30 a.m. Father Dan Staublin and Deacon Mike East will officiate. Friends and family may call at Voss and Sons Funeral Home, 316 North Chestnut Street, Seymour beginning at 4:45 p.m. with the praying of a rosary, followed by visitation from 5:00- 8:00 p.m. Friday, August 30.
