Work continues on State Road 3 between U.S. 50 and Westport in Decatur and Jennings counties after Indiana Department of Transportation closed the road in early May to complete an asphalt resurface project.

Beginning on or after Monday, August 5, Dave O’Mara Contractors plan to begin final paving operations on State Road 3 between the U.S. 50 bypass and Westport. During this time, access will be maintained for local traffic only.

Thru traffic will not be permitted while work is in progress. Throughout the closure, motorists should use the official detour route which follows U.S. 50 to U.S. 421 to State Road 46.

Paving operations are expected to take place through the end of August and final work is expected to be complete by late October, weather permitting. All work is weather-dependent and schedules are subject to change.

This project is part of a $9.3 million contract awarded to Dave O’Mara in August 2023. INDOT reminds drivers to slow down, use extra caution when traveling in and near work zones.
