Seymour school board meets tomorrow

The Seymour Community School Corp. board of trustees will meet at 7 p.m. Wednesday at the Seymour Central Service Center, 1420 Corporate Way.

The meeting will include communications and recognition, the consent agenda, donations and grants and updates on construction projects.

Katie Leitzman is requesting permission to apply for multiple annual and federal state grants. The annual grants include 2024-25 Title I, Title IIA, Title III, Title IV, High Ability, Immigrant Influx and Formative Assessment. The corporation receives an allocation for each of these annual grants. The competitive grants include secured school safety and teacher residency which are awarded and sometimes require a cash match from the corporation.

Similarly, Leitzman also is requesting permission to accept the 2024,25 High Ability Grant which is used to provide material for identification, teacher leadership stipends, professional development and access to academic competitions for elementary, middle and high school students. The total allocation is $56,005.

Curt Schleibaum also plans to discuss a Crowdstrike Software opportunity.

Action items include approval of the 2024-25 classified handbook, salary schedule and the driver’s handbook.

Other items include Seymour High School Prom venue change, a memorandum of understanding with Centerstone for mental health services, a partnership between Seymour Intermediate and Kids Klub, a memorandum of understanding with the Child Care Network for before and after school and preschool programs, a memorandum of understanding doe the renewal for the Juntos 4H program at Seymour Middle and High School and, lastly, a declaration of bus surplus and auction submission.

First read items include an Edgenuity evening program at the Jackson County Learning Center that will allow students the flexibility to attend classes outside of the normal school day and a corporation insurance package renewal.
