SEYMOUR

Lano Zagar went home to be with Jesus on May 3, 2024, at the age of 95.

Lano was born to Clark and Edna Audas on September 4, 1928, in Mena, Arkansas. They moved from Arkansas to Indiana when she was 13. She later moved to Elkins, West Virginia where she graduated from Elkins High School. One of her favorite memories was riding the train to see her brother all by herself at age 14 and talking to all the soldiers getting ready to go to war.

Lano met her husband, Frank Zagar in 1946 at Davis and Elkins College in Elkins, West Virginia. After graduation, they married in 1949 and went on to have 2 children, Edanna Zagar-Scott of Barry, Texas and Frank L. Zagar II of Bluffton, South Carolina. They traveled around the United States and Canada pipelining and lived in over 25 cities before they settled in Seymour, Indiana in the 1960s. Frank and Lano were members of the First Church of the Nazarene (now The Point) in Seymour. She loved singing in the choir, teaching Sunday school, participating in dramas and bell choir and helping wherever she could lend a hand. Throughout her entire life, Lano held an unwavering faith in God, which she shared with those who surrounded her. Her greatest desire was to be a witness to the saving grace of God. She always said, “Keep looking up, ‘cause He is looking down.”

In addition to being a dedicated and loving mother, Lano also loved reading books, studying history, coloring and spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Her face would light up each time she could be with them.

Lano joins her parents, Clark and Edna, her brothers George (Elizabeth) and Bill, and her husband Frank in Heaven. She is survived by her daughter, Edanna and husband Randall and her son Frank and wife Jane, her niece Cheryl Thill, and her grandchildren Courtney (Jacob), Chad (Tracy), Russell (Janel), Rachel, Kori and Cory, and 14 great-grandchildren.
