The Brownstown Town Council is scheduled to meet at 6 p.m. Monday at town hall, 116 E. Cross St.

Agenda items include discussions about a rate request from Rumpke of Indiana, who provides trash and recycling collection services for the town, and an update about a walking and biking trail improvement plan being developed by E2 Praxis LLC. That Brownstown-based company, owned by Jane and Peter Ellery, is putting together the improvement plan, which is funded by a $20,000 grant the town recently received from the Indiana State Department of Health.

Other agenda items include a discussion with J.L. Brewer with the Jackson County Reinvestment Advisory Council aka JRAC about opioid settlement funds and the possible continuation of discussions about the future of a building the town owns at 124 S. Main St. The town’s senior citizens group uses the buildings for its gatherings two or three times each week and the building also is rented for family gatherings and other events.

Council meetings are open to the public and press.
