Jackson County Community Theatre announces auditions for ‘Death of a Salesman’

The Jackson County Community Theatre recently announced auditions for the critically acclaimed play “Death of a Salesman,” directed by Zach Thompson.

This will be the first time in the 50-plus year history of JCCT this play is premiering on the Brownstown theatre’s stage, coinciding with the play’s 75th anniversary.

Auditions will be at 7 p.m. June 30 and July 1 at Redeemer Lutheran Church in Seymour. To audition, a prepared 60-90 second monologue is required along with participation in scene readings from the script.

Thompson said he’s excited to bring Arthur Miller’s timeless masterpiece to life, exploring themes of the American Dream, family dynamics and personal struggle. “Death of a Salesman” tells the story of Willy Loman, a struggling salesman, and his quest for success and validation within his family and society.

“This production is not only a testament to Miller’s impactful writing but also a tribute to our community’s love for theatre and storytelling,” Thompson said. “We can’t wait to see the talent and passion our local actors will bring to this stage.”

Both seasoned performers and newcomers of all ages and backgrounds are welcome to audition.

Performances will be at 7:30 p.m. Sept. 13-14 and 20-21 with a Sunday matinee at 2:30 p.m. Sept. 15 at the theatre at 121 W. Walnut St., Brownstown.
