Sam was commissioned as a 2nd Lieutenant in the Indiana National Guard, and not long after, he, Sue and their two sons relocated to Selma, Indiana. He worked for 21 years at the Broderick Steel Forging plant in Muncie, the majority of his time as the Head Purchasing Agent. Sam and Sue settled in Seymour, Indiana in 1994 where he retired from the Walmart Corporation in 2002. He was an active member of Calvary Baptist Church for over 20 years, serving as a Deacon, a member of the choir, and as leader of the men’s Bible study.
