Brownstown Central

The Braves matched up with Jennings County on Tuesday evening in baseball. Brownstown almost doubled the Panthers in hits, recording 9 of them, while Jennings had five.

Yet, the Panthers defeated the Braves 5-1, thanks to a five run sixth inning. A single and two walks filled the bases for Jennings, before another walk and hit-by-pitch walked in two runs. Jennings then hit a single to score another run. After a fielder’s choice and double later the inning was stopped at five runs allowed.

Chick Tiemeyer, Lane Pendleton, and Ethan Garland led the team with two hits each. Trent Lowery hit a homer for the lone run of the game for Brownstown.

The Braves travel to New Albany on Friday for their final regular season game, facing the Bulldogs at 5 p.m.

Softball

Brownstown Central

The Lady Braves mashed their way to a dominant win on Monday over Paoli, winning the game 14-0, behind four RBI’s from Olivia Justice and three hits from Rylee May. Brownstown compiled 15 hits in five innings, including a 9-run fifth to send the Rams packing.

Kinzee Dean, Emily Dillman, Justice and May all had multiple hits. Justice and May also left the yard, clobbering homers for the team. Kelsey Schneider, Brooke Meahl, Kyndle Huddleston, Sophie Wayt, Lyla Huffman, and Alex Davidson recorded one hit in the win.

Brownstown saved their arms, pitching May and Schneider for just two innings each. May allowed no hits, striking out five batters, while Schneider allowed one hit, but struck out five as well. Shyla Steele pitched a shutout inning, striking two Rams in the process.

The Lady Braves travel to Mitchell tomorrow at 5 p.m. for a matchup with the Bluejackets.

Trinity Lutheran

The Lady Cougars won a hard fought battle with the Christian Academy on Tuesday. Grace Lance led the way, recording the lone RBI for the team. Lance also started on the mound, pitching a one-hitter through seven innings. The junior allowed one run and one walk, while striking out a dozen Warrior batters.

Morgan Brewer and Zoey Dulaney picked up triples. Brewer and Olivia Cain led the team with two hits each. Cain also stole two bases.

Trinity hosts Brown County for their regular season finale tomorrow at 5:30 p.m.

Boys Golf

Trinity Lutheran

The Cougars boys’ golf team competed on Tuesday, hosting Jennings County and Orleans, finishing in third place, while the Panthers won the meet with a score of 169.

Trinity ended the round with a 215, led by Rylan Adair (52) and Sam Lorenz (53). Alex Overgaard carded a 55, while Wylie Jones recorded a 56, Nolan Teipen rounded out the scores with a 59.

The team now heads to their ‘team event’ on Saturday where the athletes get to play Cascades Golf Course in Bloomington, which is where Sectionals will be held.

Crothersville

The Tigers competed on Wednesday evening in a four-way match at Westwood Golf Course in Scottsburg.

Crothersville competed against the Warriors, Southwestern (Hanover) and Jennings County. Senior Logen O’Sullivan carded a 53 in his 9-holes of work.

The team will be back in action at the SAC Conference Championships on Monday, May. 20th at Champions Pointe Golf Course in Henryville.
