Seymour

The Owls faced off with Jennings County in the third place game of the Hoosier Hills Conference Tournament on Friday. Seymour took an early 2-0 lead after the first inning, eventually leading 3-0 after the top of the fourth inning. Jennings County came back with three total runs in the fourth and fifth innings to tie the game.

The Panthers then won the game in the top of the 8th inning, winning 4-3 over the Owls. Ryan Shuck doubled for Jennings to score Austin Byford.

The Owls host Henryville tonight at 6 p.m.

Brownstown Central

The Braves hosted Batesville on Friday evening, dropping the matchup 5-2. Both teams compiled five hits, Batesville led 4-0 after five innings of play.

Brownstown rallied to cut the deficit in half, making it 4-2 in the sixth frame, but it wouldn’t matter, as Batesville managed to win by three runs. A bright spot for Brownstown was a solo home run from Trent Lowery in the bottom of the sixth.

Brownstown hosts Silver Creek tonight at 6 p.m.

Crothersville

The Tigers clashed with Rock Creek Academy on Saturday afternoon, falling to the Lions 16-10. Rock Creek took an early 6-3 lead after three innings of play. The fifth inning was detrimental for Crothersville, allowing seven runs to make it 13-3, before Crothersville scored a run to prevent the run-rule. The Tigers battled back, adding six more runs in the final two innings, falling short.

Lucas Hilton broke another record on Saturday, recording one hit to set the all-time record for hits (68) by a Crothersville Tiger in his career.

The record was held by Mike Couch who had 67 hits from 1980-83.

Trinity Lutheran

The Cougars played twice over the weekend, facing high-powered Barr-Reeve on Friday, before traveling to New Washington on Saturday.

Trinity fell to the Class 1A No. 1 in Barr-Reeve by ten runs, losing to the Vikings 11-1. The Cougars then dominated New Washington 11-1 to grab their 8th win of the 2023-24 season.

Drake Goodpaster led the way with four hits, while Nathan Finke recorded three of them. Jackson Trueblood also recorded two hits, while Finke led the team in RBI’s with three of them. Kowan Gross recorded 2 RBI’s while also pitching on the mound. Gross tossed six innings of one-run baseball, allowing three hits and striking out seven Mustang batters.

The team will host Southwestern tonight at 5:30 p.m.

Crothersville

The Lady Tigers faced off with Cannelton on Saturday, almost grabbing their first win of the season, falling short 11-6 to the Bulldogs.

Crothersville forced extra innings, scoring three runs in the bottom of the seventh inning. Zoey Prince had the strikeouts rolling on Saturday, recording 15 of them in the loss. Five Tigers recorded multiple hits for Crothersville.

Boys Golf

Brownstown Central

The Braves golf team took care of business on Saturday in the Mid-Southern Conference Tournament. Brownstown carded a 308, defeating Corydon Central by 18 strokes for the win.

Micah Sheffer led the way with a 73, shooting the second best score in the field. Smith Hackman finished 4th overall with a 76, while Matthew Reedy ended in 5th with a 77. Caiden Gwin added an 82 to finish in 9th place. Collin Downing rounded out the scores with an 88.
