Lutheran Dartball League Week 15 results and standings

Here’s an update after the 15th week of the Lutheran Dartball League.

League-leading Sauers E had the bye week and remains in first place with a .718 winning percentage. The Dudleytown Mets are in second place, having won two from Zion 2 2-0 and 2-1 before losing the third game 5-4 in the bottom of the ninth by a walk-off triple by Gary Birch.

Wegan B remains tied with the Mets in winning percentage, taking two games from the Pastors. Wegan B won the first game 2-1. In Game 2, they were trailing 6-1 when they exploded for six runs in the eighth inning for the win. The Pastors came back with a win in Game 3 3-1.

For the Pastors, the Rev. Craig Mulbach hit his fourth home run of the year. Immanuel 1 is in fourth place, having beaten Wegan W two games. Sauers B is in fifth place after losing two games to Brownstown 4.

Redeemer N took two games from Hayden Methodist. In the first game, Clayton Capes hit a home run in the ninth inning to tie the game at 4, and Leonard Collett got the walk-off hit in the 10th.

Some key matchups to watch next week are Wegan W at Sauers E, Dudleytown N at Immanuel 1 and Dudleytown D at Dudleytown Mets.

Dartball scholarships

The deadline for turning in scholarship applications is Feb. 15. There is still time to pick up an application and get it turned in.

Dartball history

Competing in their 24 year in the league is Zion 2. Their team started in 1960 and played through 1971 before dropping out. Zion 2 rejoined the league in 2009 and has been playing each year since.

In 23 years of league play, they have won 496 games and lost 623 games for a winning percentage of .443. In those 1,119 games, they have scored 4,540 runs for an average of 4.06 runs a game.

Their highest game was 22 runs in 1967-68 season, and their highest series was 39 runs in 1968-69 season. Zion 2’s best season was in 1968-69 when they went 34-26 for a .567 winning percentage. Zion 2 has historically been a good tourney team, having won championships in 1962, 1965, 1969, 2014 and 2017. They were tourney runner-up in 1967.

2. They hold first and second place all-time in fewest runs in tourney championship game with one run in 1962 (Zion 2 1-0 Immanuel 2) and two runs in 1969 (Zion 2 2-0 Brownstown 3)
