Brownstown Central

The Braves hosted Jeffersonville on Saturday night after a tough eight-point loss to Jennings County on Friday.

Brownstown bounced back to defeat the Red Devils 60-48.

Jack Benter led all scorers with 28 points, also leading the team in rebounds (six) and assists (five) in the winning effort.

Adam Stahl kicked in 15 points for Brownstown, which improved to 10-4 with the win.

They will now travel down to Silver Creek for a matchup with the Dragons on Friday at 7:30 p.m. The team then goes to Carmel on Saturday for a matchup with the 4-8 Greyhounds, which starts at 7:30 p.m.

Medora

The Hornets and Lady Hornets were scheduled to have a varsity doubleheader on Saturday with Mooresville Christian. Mooresville decided to cancel the games, and the contests were not played.

Trinity Lutheran

The Cougars were looking to bounce back from Friday’s loss to defending Class A state shampion Indianapolis Lutheran.

Trinity traveled to Henryville for a matchup with the Hornets on Saturday evening. The Cougars edged the Hornets 60-57 in overtime, led by Hudson Lang, who scored 27 points and hit six three-pointers in the process.

Levi Pottschmidt added 13 points, while Reed Mellencamp chipped in 12 points. Mellencamp also led in rebounds with seven. Peyton Pollert also grabbed seven boards in the game.

Trinity will now host New Washington on Saturday at 7:30 p.m. The Cougars will seek their fifth win of the season.

Girls basketball

Seymour

The Lady Owls were back in action Saturday afternoon, defeating North Harrison 64-48.

Senior guard Kendall Sterling also accomplished a big feat, surpassing 1,000 career points in the victory.

Sterling led all scorers with 24 points in the winning effort. Journee Brown also was huge for the Owls, scoring 19 points, while Sophie Skidmore had 12. Emmy Munson had the other nine for Seymour.

The girls improved to 9-8 on the season and have just five games left, hosting Center Grove on Friday at 7:30 p.m.

The Lady Tigers faced off with Class A No. 2 Lanesville on Saturday, dropping the matchup with the Eagles 76-11.

The Owls competed in the Jennings County Super Dual on Saturday morning, battling with multiple schools in duals throughout the day.

The Owls hosted Hoosier Hills Conference opponent Floyd Central on Saturday morning. The team dropped the matchup with the Highlanders on the boys and girls sides.

The Highlanders won the boys meet 98-85 and the girls meet 128-55.

Seymour will now look to compete in the Hoosier Hills Conference meet Saturday at New Albany High School.
