Wegan B easily handled the Dudleytown Mets in Game 1 7-1. After the Mets held on to win Game 2 4-3, Wegan B scored a run in the ninth inning of Game 3 to win 6-5.

White Creek N moved up to a tie for third by sweeping the Pastors. Sauers B lost two games to Dudleytown N.

Immanuel 1 took a beating from Dudleytown D, losing 6-4, 8-6 and 7-0. That leaves White Creek N, Immanuel 1 and Sauers B tied for third with 17-10 records.

Dudleytown Mets is the only team other than the top two to have less than 10 losses with a record of 15-9. The league is now on a holiday break until action resumes Jan. 8.

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to all of the teams in the league.

History

The team coming in eighth in seniority is Borchers. This year marks the 50th year of league play for Borchers, having been formed in the fall of 1973.

In their 49 years, they have won 1,576 games and lost 1,163 for a winning percentage of .575. Borchers’ best year was in 1996-97 when they went 46-14 for a .767 winning percentage in winning the league that year.

Their only other league championship came in 2003-04. Borchers has finished second in the league two times and third two times. Their only tourney championship came in 2004. Their highest scoring game came in 1984-85 with 24 runs, and their highest series was 41 runs during 1980-81.

For the Silver Anniversary Team in 2002, Borchers selected Herb Hoene. Herb started playing for Cortland and joined the Borchers team when it was formed in 1973. Herb was a good hitter, and he loved the game of dartball. He played until his death.

All of the records and history have been compiled in a three-ring binder. There are 180 pages in plastic sheet covers covering the starting of the league, all-star games, split divisions year, scholarship program, two times league play was halted, stats for each team, league and tourney winners over the years, a page of league standings and tourney scores for each year and many photos of past teams.

Copies of the history book may be purchased for $30 by calling Bob Klosterman at 812-580-8394.
