Robert “Bob” George Henry Wischmeier, of Brownstown passed away peacefully on the afternoon of December 1, 2023, at Hoosier Christian Village with his family by his side. He was 84 years old.

Bob entered this life on April 6, 1939, in Seymour, Indiana. He was the oldest born to the loving parents, Oren and Selma (Darlage) Wischmeier. Bob spent his entire life in Jackson County. He served in the Indiana National Guard. On April 20, 1968, at St. John Sauers Lutheran Church, Bob married the love of his life, Violet (Wessel) Wischmeier. She preceded him in death on August 13, 2023. From this union of over 55 years, they were blessed with four children, Douglas Brian, Roberta Kay, Susan Rae, and Ralph Henry. Douglas preceded him on January 7, 2020, and Ralph preceded on May 24, 2023.

Bob was a member of the St. Peter’s Evangelical Lutheran Church of Brownstown.

He started out driving a gas truck for Marathon Gas and ran a farm on the side. He later took a job with INDOT. He retired after 25 years as a maintenance crew leader and decided to go back to farming until he fully retired. In his free time, he drove a show award winning mule team and would travel from state to state showing his mule team.

Bob is survived by his daughters, Roberta Main and her husband Kevin of Seymour, and Susan Kaiser and her husband Troy of Seymour, a daughter-in-law Anne Wischmeier of Charlestown, seven grandchildren, Clayton Main, Clint Main, Cole Fosbrink, Carly Kaiser, Trista Wischmeier, Travis Wischmeier, and Shana Wischmeier. In addition, two brothers, Wayne Wischmeier Sr. and his wife Rita of Brownstown, and Randal Wischmeier and his wife Sandy of Scottsburg, and a sister Flora Wheeler and her husband Michael of Westport, Indiana.

He was proceeded in death by his parents, and two sisters, Florence &her husband Jack Wilson and Ruth Ellen Wischmeier.

Funeral Services will be conducted at St. Peter’s Evangelical Lutheran Church of Brownstown on Wednesday December 6, 2023, at 1:00 pm with Pastor Ryan Schneider officiating. Burial will follow at St. Peter’s Lutheran Cemetery of Brownstown.

Visitation will be conducted at St. Peter’s Evangelical Lutheran Church after 11:00 am until time of the service.

Memorials may be written in Bob’s name to St. Peter’s Evangelical Lutheran Church.
