Crothersville school board meets

The Crothersville Community School Corp. board of education met Monday night at the central administration building.

It began with a public hearing for the 2024 budget and collective bargaining. No public comments were made.

In personnel matters, the resignations of Olivia Cain as Spell Bowl coach and Matthew Otte as high school Science Club sponsor were approved, and then the extracurricular assignments of Stephanie Justice as Class of 2030 co-sponsor, John Riley as elementary girls basketball coach, Whitney Douglas as junior varsity girls basketball coach and Lisa Turner as elementary Spell Bowl coach were approved.

Superintendent Chrystal Street recommended increasing the substitute teacher daily pay to $70 for noncertified subs and $80 for licensed teachers, and that was unanimously approved.

Also, EMCOR was hired as the corporation’s energy savings provider for the upcoming HVAC project, moving the October board meeting to Oct. 4 and the January meeting to Jan. 15 was approved and Katherine Burns was presented the first Student of the Month award.
