Contestants sought for Oktoberfest prince and princess

Beta Kappa Chapter of Epsilon Sigma Alpha is sponsoring the 2023 Seymour Oktoberfest prince and princess contest.

All boys and girls who are residents of Jackson County and are between the ages of 6 and 10 before the Oktoberfest are eligible to enter this contest. This year’s festival, the 50th, is Oct. 5 to 7 in downtown Seymour.

The winning prince and princess are determined by who raises the most money. All contestants who turn in money will receive prizes, have their picture in The Tribune and be eligible to ride in the parade, which is Oct. 7.

The crowned prince and princess will each receive a bicycle provided by Beta Kappa and other prizes.

Funds raised by this project will benefit various Beta Kappa philanthropic projects and ways and means. Some of the annual projects are The Arc of Jackson County, Community Provisions of Jackson County, Anchor House Family Assistance Center and Pantry, Turning Point Domestic Violence Services, Jackson County GAL/CASA, Easter Seals and St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.

The deadline for all applicants to register is Sept. 20.

Applicants are able to start collecting votes as soon as they are registered. Online registration is available at seymouroktoberfest.com or an application may be obtained by contacting Brenda Hardesty at 812-371-6936 or Beth White at 812-445-3815 after 6 p.m. They are able to take registrations over the phone, too.
