After picking up a huge victory over the Columbus East Olympians in Week 3, Seymour prepares for another battle in Week 4, this time against another Hoosier Hills Conference foe.
The Owls will be heading south on Friday, competing against the Floyd Central Highlanders, who are fresh off of a 56-28 victory over Silver Creek.
Seymour will look to extend its winning streak to three.
If not for a bad stretch in the second half versus Greenwood, they could very well be 4-0 right now.
Owls head coach Tyson Moore is preaching to build off the victories and continuing to stay focused during the long course of the season.
“The biggest thing for us is to continue building off the momentum we have,” Moore said. “We’re making sure we are extra focused this week. We’re in the middle of this tough three-game stretch against Hoosier Hills Conference opponents. We played East. Now, we have Floyd Central, and then next week, we face Bedford North Lawrence.”
Moore knows the Highlanders are a very athletic team with a lot of experience.
“They have a lot of experience on their football team,” he said. “There are a lot of seniors and juniors that we have seen over the past few years. They are a very strong team up front on the offensive and defensive lines. Defensively, we know we will have to be on our game.”
Seymour will look to secure its third straight conference victory, setting themselves up in good position to possibly repeat as Hoosier Hills champions like they did last year.
Moore knows the team must stay poised to defeat the well-rounded Highlanders.
“Offensively, we will have to be disciplined this week. They tackle really well. They are explosive on offense, they have good receivers,” he said. “Floyd Central just does a lot of things well.”
The Owls coach spoke about what he liked about his team throughout the first three weeks of the season.
“I like how we keep our composure. We’ve been put in some tough situations, and overall, we’ve kept ourselves composed throughout the season,” Moore said. “We’ve stayed composed in these games and stayed focused on what we are trying to accomplish. This team is super experienced. I believe it’s the most composed team I have had in my time here at Seymour.”
