SEYMOUR

Norma T. Carpenter 92, of Seymour, passed away Sunday August 27, 2023, surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Detroit, Michigan on November 12, 1930, to the late Charles Raymond Carpenter and Mary Brennen Carpenter.

Norma is survived by Harvey (Crystal) Adams and their children Javon, Gracie and Charlie Adams; sister in law Judy Carpenter, several nieces and nephews, and dear friend Perry Adams.

She was reunited in death with her parents, brothers: Charles Carpenter and David Carpenter, and sisters: Mary Potters and Ida Raleigh.

Norm was one in a million. In her younger years, she enjoyed visiting the family cottage and spending time with her brothers and sisters. Later in life she loved to cook for others, shop for bargains, play cards with her close friends and family, drank a ton of coffee, and spent time with those she loved. She retired from Contel Phone Company after many years of service to the Seymour community.

To some she was Aunt Bum to others she was their Norm. She opened her heart and home to so many throughout the years, for that we are forever grateful.

She would always say, “blood doesn’t make you family, it’s those that you love, that make your family.” Everyone should be as lucky to have a Norm in their life.

A graveside service will be conducted at St. Ambrose Catholic Cemetery on Sunday September 3, 2023, at 3:00 pm. All services have been entrusted to the caring staff at Voss and Sons Funeral Service.

Family requests memorial contributions be made to Girls Inc. of Seymour, Indiana.
