The free course, which requires registration, will be from 6 to 8:30 p.m. Mondays from Sept. 18 through Nov. 6 at the Jackson County Learning Center, 323 Dupont Drive, Seymour.

The class is a free eight-session education program for family, friends and significant others of adults with mental health conditions. It provides information about anxiety, depressive disorders, schizophrenia, bipolar disorder and other mental health conditions. Other topics covered include communication, problem-solving, treatment and recovery.

The evidence-based program is designed to increase understanding and advocacy skills while helping participants maintain their own well-being. The program is taught by trained family members with a loved one who has a mental health condition.
