Seymour volleyball
The Owls traveled to Jeffersonville on Saturday to kick their season off.
The team made quick work, winning 25-16, 25-14, 25-21.
Hitting for the Owls were Emerson Johnson 17-20-10, Zoe Williams 14-17-7 and Journee Brown 11-14-4. The team went 70-83-30.
Serving leaders for the Owls were Abby Otte 13-15-4, Raeann Baker 14-15-3 and Jamie Bobb 9-12-2. The team went 62-73-14.
Anna Fish led the team in assists with 22. Novah Campbell led the team in defensive digs with nine.
Junior varsity also competed, defeating Jeffersonville 21-25, 25-13, 15-10. The freshman team also won their match 25-12, 25-8.
Trinity Lutheran volleyball
Trinity Lutheran’s volleyball team traveled to the Providence tournament to compete on Saturday.
The girls competed in three games, winning one and losing the other two.
In the first matchup with Castle, Trinity would lose in three sets 25-13, 25-22, 25-7.
In the next match against Evansville Mater Dei, the Cougars emerged successfully, defeating the opposition 25-22, 25-18, 25-16. In the final match against Springs Valley, it would go all five sets. The first two sets went to Springs Valley 25-23, 25-12. Trinity battled back, winning the third set 25-23 and the fourth set 25-18. Springs Valley would win the fifth set, scraping by 15-13 to take the win.
Addie Darlage led the team in assists with 76. Laura Roeder led the team in digs with 51. She also had the most aces on the team with nine.
Carson Bowling led the team in kills with 32, and Madison Keith followed with 24. The team combined for 100 kills in 321 attempts.
Bowling and Keith led in blocks with six.
Crothersville volleyball
The Crothersville volleyball team competed in the Scottsburg Invitational and dropped all four contests.
Crothersville lost to Scottsburg 25-8, 25-11, Salem 25-18, 25-14, Mitchell 25-9, 25-10 and Southport 25-11, 25-15.
Serving leaders were Grace Smith 19-19-1, Brooklyn Bottorff 15-16 and Elayna Ord 18-25-2.
In setting, Grace Smith was 58-58-7, and Makenna Newberry was 53-53-10.
Hitting leaders were Bottorff with 10 kills on 66 attempts, Zoey Prince with four kills on 25 attempts and Ord with three kills on 13 attempts.
Maddie Smith had 10 digs, and Prince had nine.
Seymour boys soccer
The Owls tied with Jasper 0-0.
Lance Hubbard locked down the net for Seymour, grabbing eight saves.
JV lost its contest to Jasper 4-1.
Trinity Lutheran and Brownstown Central girls golf
Trinity Lutheran’s Allie Schocke competed in the Madison Invitational on Saturday and carded 117 in the 18-hole competition.
Brownstown finished second as a team with a team score of 408. Gracie Reynolds led the way with a score of 92. Megan VonDielingen and Jayda Clodfelder both scored 105. Abby Schroer carded 106, while Khloe Lingenfelter finished with 107.
Brownstown Central and Crothersville cross country
In the Warpath Invitational in Borden on Saturday, the Brownstown Central boys finished second with a score of 70, and Crothersville finished 10th with a score of 209.
Brownstown’s Chance and Shane Ratliff finished first and second to lead the Braves. Their times were 16:37 and 16:46, respectively.
Eli Crockett was 21st in 20:01, followed by Garrett Driver 25th in 20:29, Traven Wellman 28th in 20:36, Damien Owens 35th in 21:04 and Brady Blann 63rd in 26:46.
Dirk Crater led Crothersville by placing 14th in 18:22. He was followed by Kaleb Moeller 51st in 23:28, Brayden Heath 56th in 24:24, Jude Howard 65th in 28:28, Corey Reynolds 68th in 31:19 and Gage Howard 69th in 33:08.
Corydon Central won with a score of 40.
Brownstown finished fourth in the girls competition with 83.
Corydon again was first with 19. Addison Applegate won in 19:20.
Brownstown was led by Kelsey Schneider, placing 17th in 23:58. Behind her were Cambell Shasteen 18th in 24:43, Trinity Cody 21st in 25:00, Tori Lokey 28th in 26:28, Riley Pumphrey 32nd in 26:59, Claire Schepman 37th in 28:29, Maddie Singleton 40th in 29:19, Chelsie Combs 43rd in 30:16, Isabella Brown 46th in 33:04, Avery Harrison 47th in 33:08 and Brynn Burton 49th in 33:34.
