Maintenance Specialist Brandon Joray gave a staff report when the Jackson County Public Library board of trustees met Monday at the Medora Library.
Also, Library Administrator Mary Reed presented the 2023 and 2024 capital projects, including a 2016 van replacement in 2023; a new concrete ramp, wall and floodgate in Medora in 2024; and computers and related hardware at Seymour, Crothersville and Medora in 2023 and 2024.
The board approved staff changes, and Library Director Julia Aker went over 2022 annual report figures.
In 2022, the library had limited occupancy for the first six weeks due to a spike in local COVID-19 cases. Income exceeded expenses by $351,697, and most service statistics were still down from 2019 figures. Library staff provided reference answers to 20,256 questions, and they also provided in-person and virtual programs to 15,700 people of all ages.
The board’s next meeting is at 4:30 p.m. April 17 at the Seymour Library, 303 W. Second St.
