CROTHERSVILLE — The Crothersville Town Council introduced a new initiative during its monthly meeting Tuesday night.

A certificate of appreciation for excellence in community service was presented to Kyle McIntosh, owner of Beauty from Ashes Tattoo Parlor in Crothersville.

“The purpose of this award is to recognize local residents who are outstanding citizens who go above and beyond to give back and give back in a huge way, one who is quick to offer assistance to someone or an organization in need,” council President Jason Hillenburg said.

He said he was honored to introduce this new honor on behalf of the council and award the first recipient, who was described as “a husband, a father, a muralist, a business owner, a public speaker, a community activist and a tattoo artist.”

“He spends his free time volunteering here in Crothersville and surrounding areas,” Hillenburg said. “Over the years, he has helped raise thousands of dollars and has helped clothe and feed many locals.”

Hillenburg thanked and congratulated McIntosh before asking him to come forward and received a framed certificate, and he received a round of applause as he gathered for a photo with the five members of the council.

On his Facebook page that evening, McIntosh said his wife, Kasey, knew about the honor, but she didn’t tell him.

“Wow! That was completely unexpected,” McIntosh wrote. “I would have never expected this in a million years. Thank you, thank you, thank you.”
