Public invited to prayer walk in Medora

Medora Pentecostal Church is conducting a CommUNITY Prayer Walk for National Day of Prayer at 7 p.m. Thursday.

Meet at the church, 94 N. Elm St., Medora, for an opening prayer, followed by walking the streets and praying for the town.

For those unable to walk, prayer will be offered in the sanctuary.

Other churches and the public are invited.

Hospital board committee to meet in executive session

The Schneck Medical Center board of trustees executive committee will meet in executive session at 3 p.m. Thursday in the boardroom at the hospital, 411 W. Tipton St., Seymour.

The purpose of the meeting, closed to the public and press, is to discuss information and intelligence intended to prevent, mitigate or respond to threat of terrorism.

First responder event planned for Saturday

A First Responder Day event will be from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at New Life Missionary Baptist Church, 709 W. Bridge St., Brownstown.

It will feature a bounce house, a StatFlight medical helicopter and a meal of sloppy joes and hot dogs.

The public is invited to thank first responders for what they do.

Trinity students offering art camp for youth

Trinity Lutheran High School art students will host a summer art camp for kids entering kindergarten through fourth grade.

Space is limited to the first 24 campers. The cost is $40 per camper with family discounts for more than one attendee. All campers will receive a camp T-shirt.

The camp will run from 9 a.m. to noon June 13 to 15 at the school, 7120 N. County Road 875E, Seymour, and end with an art show at 5:30 p.m. June 15, where camp attendees will display their work and go home with all of their finished pieces at the end of the show.

Signups start for summer art camp

Southern Indiana Center for the Arts will offer two sessions of summer art camp, June 13 to 16 and June 20 to 22.

Camp will be from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the arts center, 2001 N. Ewing St., Seymour. It’s open to students who have completed kindergarten through those who have just completed fifth grade.

The cost to attend is $100 per child for nonmembers and $80 per child for members. Each child will get a T-shirt.

The daily schedule will include music and dance, painting and drawing, crafts, imagination station, free time to complete projects, lunch and play. Each student will need to bring lunch and a refillable water bottle. SICA will provide a snack each day.

Loyal Devoir Society meets at Central Christian Church

The Loyal Devoir Society of Central Christian Church met April 26 with President Janice Brock calling the meeting to order.

There were 12 members present.

Helen Horton gave devotions and followed with prayer.

There was no treasurer’s report. Judy McDonald read the minutes of the last meeting.

Grace Low volunteered to be the cards and flowers person.

Under old business, Brock announced lunches for the teachers will be delivered to the middle school and the sixth grade center May 11. She asked everyone present to bring two dozen cookies to the church May 8.

There will be no bake sale.

Brock thanked everyone who helped with the funeral dinner.

Paula Stafford took pictures of the group and also of the hostess committee for the scrapbook.

The next meeting will be the group’s birthday party at 7 p.m. May 24. Group 1 will be hostess with Barb Bentley as leader.
