Bridge work coming up in Jackson, Jennings counties

Indiana Department of Transportation contractor RAM Construction Services plans to begin work next week on a $300,000 bridge rehabilitation contract that includes locations on State Road 7 in Jennings County and Farmington Road in Jackson County.

The contractor will complete deck overlays on three bridges in Jennings County. Each bridge will be reduced to one lane with temporary traffic signals for approximately one week while work is in progress.

Construction is scheduled as follows, weather permitting:

On/after May 11: State Road 7 over Nettle Creek, 7.96 miles north of State Road 3

Mid-May: State Road 7 over Sixmile Creek, 2.95 miles north of State Road 3

Late May: State Road 7 over Sand Creek, 6.86 miles north of State Road 3

Crews will move to the Farmington Road (Count Road 275N) overpass over Interstate 65 in Jackson County once work is complete in Jennings County.

In late May or early June, the overpass will close for approximately 30 days while the contractor completes a deck overlay. The closure will be just west of U.S. 31. south of Seymour. Traffic will be routed to the official detour, which follows U.S. 31, U.S. 50 and County Road 1040E.

The contract was awarded to RAM in August 2021 and has a completion date of July 31.
