Sectional matchups set for girls basketball

The Indiana High School Athletic Association released the sectional pairings for girls basketball on Sunday evening.

The four teams in Jackson County each only have a couple of games remaining before sectional play begins next week.

For the Brownstown Central girls, they will play against Owen Valley next Tuesday at Northview High School. The Braves are 12-11 this season with one game remaining on Thursday at North Harrison. Owen Valley is 9-13 on the season and has two games left on its schedule for the rest of this week.

The winner of Brownstown and Owen Valley will play West Vigo the following Friday. West Vigo received a bye in the bracket.

The Seymour girls team also will play its sectional game next Tuesday, and the Owls will be playing New Albany at Jeffersonville High School.

The Owls are 9-9 on the season with two games left — at home tonight against Charlestown and on the road Thursday at New Albany. The Bulldogs are 5-17 this season and only has the game against Seymour left on the schedule.

The winner between Seymour and New Albany will play Jennings County the following Friday.

To wrap up the sectional pairings, Trinity Lutheran and Crothersville were matched up against one another for next Friday at West Washington.

The Cougars (14-7) will play at Madison on Thursday night before gearing up for the Tigers, while Crothersville (3-12) has a home game tonight against New Washington and a road game Saturday at Rock Creek Academy.

The winner between Trinity and Crothersville will advance to the sectional championship game next Saturday, and they will play either Shawe Memorial, Edinburgh or West Washington on the other side of the bracket in the finals.

The sectional pairings for boys basketball won’t be released until Feb. 20.
