Medora Timberjacks to hold tryouts Sunday

The Medora Timberjacks are joining The Basketball League, featuring 48 teams across the country, and now, they need to fill out their roster.

The Timberjacks announced they will be holding the first set of tryouts from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Medora High School, 82 S. George St.

The pitch for the TBL combine at Medora, according to the team’s Facebook page, is as follows: “Are you a basketball player? Want to showcase your talent to over 145 countries around the world? Want to be a professional athlete? Come try out for The Basketball League, the newest pro league in North America. TBL is comprised of 35-40+ teams with 350-400+ potential jobs. All teams will provide travel to and from each game, housing when necessary and food per diem on the road. Over the past seven years, combines run by Coach Mags (TBL President David Magley) have generated literally hundreds of jobs in North America for talent from all over the country.”

There will be a registration fee to attend the combine Sunday. The cost is a $125 at the door. Players 18 and older may participate.

The TBL combines will include the following:

* Required COVID-19 waiver (review, complete and sign before registering)

* Basketball skills testing

* Drills

* Full-court five-on-five scrimmages

* Written review on each player is available after the event

The Timberjacks are planning to play a 24-game schedule with 12 home games at Medora High School and 12 away games this season.

The schedule is going to be announced this month, and games will begin in March and last through May.
