A trio bringing a new “old school country with a rhinestone flair” is set to take the stage Thursday night for Seymour CityJam.
Sweet Tea Trio, an all-female harmony group hailing from Alabama and now living in Nashville, Tennessee, will perform at 6:30 p.m. at the JCB Pavilion at Crossroads Community Park, 101 E. Tipton St., Seymour.
Admission is free. The Pines will have food and beverages available for purchase and Kovener’s Korner will have its ice cream truck there starting at 6 p.m.
This is the eighth season of the summer concert series. Seymour Main Street was able to secure all five of the acts that were scheduled to perform in 2020 but were canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
According to its website, Kate Falcon of Southside, Victoria Camp of Tuscaloosa and Charity Bowden of Hope Hull met through a mutual vocal coach in Alabama and formed Sweet Tea Trio.
“Together, their music has no limit,” the website states. “Each growing up with different influences, listening to bands like Journey and classic country legends like Loretta Lynn, the three keep their lyrics honest and their music full of roots and authenticity.”
The group is signed with Vector Management and Lost Highway Touring and managed by singer-songwriter, rapper and producer Kid Rock.
Sweet Tea Trio has opened for legendary acts of all genres, including Bon Jovi and Alabama.
In 2017, they released a six-song EP.
Their website states they currently are recording a studio album, produced by Kid Rock, and are continuing to write for future projects.
“Performing all over the country in venues like arenas, theaters and outdoor music festivals, the three have a love and passion for traveling together and meeting their fans,” the website states. “Kate, Victoria and Charity take great pride in writing their own music and connecting with fans through their lyrics. Together, the three encompass what it means to be classy southern women with a love for what they do.”
On the website, Kid Rock describes the women as “some of the most talented, kindhearted and hardworking singers and players I have ever met.”
“At their young ages, they are already becoming fast scholars of the road and writing songs,” he said. “In my opinion, they pick up where the Dixie Chicks and Pistol Annies meet. They are 100% country, and I look forward to sharing my 30 years in this business to get them an honest shot at the big time.”
Thursday’s show in Seymour will be the fourth in the summer concert series. The last CityJam concert of the season will be Sept. 16 featuring Nashville Yacht Club Band.
