A Clark County man faces two charges related to a pursuit that began Tuesday night with a traffic stop on Interstate 65 north of Seymour.

Andrew Moore, 18, of Clarksville was arrested on a Level 6 felony charge of resisting law enforcement and a Class A misdemeanor charge of reckless driving after he fled from his vehicle in Columbus.

According to a news release from Sgt. Stephen Wheeles, public information officer for the Indiana State Police Versailles Post, the incident that led to Moore’s arrest started when Trooper Derek Eggers conducted a traffic stop on a 2004 Toyota passenger car on the interstate near the 55 mile marker in Jackson County.

As Eggers was approaching the vehicle on foot shortly before midnight, the driver — later identified as Moore — fled the scene northbound on I-65.

Eggers pursued the vehicle into Bartholomew County. The driver exited the interstate at Exit 68 in Columbus.

After leaving the interstate, Moore’s vehicle collided with a passenger car traveling westbound on State Road 46. The driver of the second vehicle was treated for minor injuries.

After the collision, Moore fled from the vehicle on foot before eventually being taken into custody.

Moore was booked into the Jackson County Jail in Brownstown at 2:33 a.m. and is being without bond pending an initial appearance in Jackson Circuit Court.

Eggers was assisted by other troopers with the Indiana State Police Versailles Post along with officers from the Columbus Police Department and Bartholomew County Sheriff’s Department.
