Led by Grace Meyer’s 13 points and 8 rebounds, the Seymour girls basketball team broke to the lead early and maintained a wide margin throughout to top Batesville, 45-18, Friday night on the road.

Alyessa Perry contributed 11 points as the Owls’ other double-figure scorer and Seymour’s defense stifled the hosts for most of the night.

After pushing to a 12-6 first-quarter lead, the Owls limited Batesville to just two points in each of the next two periods. Seymour out-scored Batesville 26-4 during that stretch.

Grace Schrader and Kendell Sterling each contributed 9 points for Seymour.  Brooke Trinkle added three points.

The Owls are now 2-2 on the season with a two-game winning streak after also defeating Greenwood, 47-32, last time out.
