Girls Soccer

Cougars overwhelm Saints in final tuneup

If scoring goals is your thing, then the Trinity Lutheran girls soccer team had the game for you against Indianapolis Lutheran.

The Cougars downed the Saints, 11-1, in their final regular season contest before next week’s sectional begins at Providence High School.

Trinity Lutheran went ahead early in the first half behind a hat trick from Kailene Cockerham and a goal from Sarah Lemming.

They poured it on in the second 40 minutes for the comfortable win. 

Volleyball

Braves drop tough game to No. 3 Pioneers

After a straight-sets victory over Seymour the other night, the Brownstown Central volleyball team welcomed in third-ranked Providence and gave the Pioneers all they could handle.

Yet, the Southern Indiana power was able to come away with a 3-0 win over the Braves despite a strong effort from the Braves. 

Tigers sweep Hornets in county clash 

Crothersville picked up a win over Jackson County rival Medora in straight sets (25-15, 25-11, 25-23). 

The Tigers had 10 serve aces and were led by Makayla Helt and Addy Cole, who each had two. Bekah Cook also had an ace for the Tigers. 

In the hitting department, the Tigers totaled 12 kills and were led by Cook’s six. Cole contributed two kills to the effort. 

Stats for Medora were not reported.
