Jackson Bowl tickets on sale
The Seymour High School and Brownstown Central High School athletic departments will be selling tickets for Friday’s Jackson Bowl.
Tickets will be available in the Brownstown Central High School athletic office on Tuesday and Wednesday from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Tickets will be available in the Seymour High School athletic office on Wednesday and Thursday from 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. and also on Friday from 8:30 a.m. to noon.
Tickets are $5 each.
Angie Lucas reaches 600-win milestone
Seymour volleyball coach Angie Lucas reached the 600-win mark over the weekend at the Franklin Invite.
The Owls defeated Southmont in straight sets to deliver Lucas her 600th victory at the helm. She got win No. 601 in their very next match.
Lucas will have her achievement celebrated tonight before the Owls’ match with Silver Creek.
Be The Match game tonight at Seymour
Tonight’s Seymour volleyball game against Silver Creek will be the Be The Match game where anyone who attends can register for free to be a donor with the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.
A donation will be made in honor of Alyssa Cavanaugh, a Western Kentucky University graduate who was about to embark on a European professional volleyball career when she received a leukemia diagnosis that halted her plans.
A raffle for a signed Purdue volleyball and a gift certificate bouquet will also take place with proceeds benefiting the Best Seat in the House and Be The Match programs of the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.
Braves remain eighth in the IFCA
Ahead of Friday’s Jackson Bowl, the Brownstown Central football team stays put at No. 8 in Class 3A in the Week 6 Indiana Football Coaches Association Poll.
The top teams in each class are: Avon (6A), New Palestine (5A), New Prairie (4A), West Lafayette (3A), Lewis Cass (2A) and Indianapolis Lutheran (A). All but West Lafayette are undefeated this season.

Owls sweep Jennings County in HHC opener
Seymour advanced to the next round of the Hoosier Hills Conference tournament with a 5-0 win over Jennings County.
Vincent Camboulas raced through his match at No. 1 singles, winning 6-1, 6-3. The No. 1 doubles pair of Will Rinehart and Brandon Hubbard won 6-0, 6-3 and the No. 2 tandem of Trey Hohenstreiter and Andrew Levine won 6-2, 6-1.
Isaac Hardin needed three sets to get his win at No. 2 singles, dropping the first set 3-6 before winning the next one, 6-3, and the super breaker, 11-9. Braden Handloser also needed three sets, losing 2-6 in the first set before winning the next set, 7-6, and the super breaker, 11-9.
Braves fall to Charlestown on the road
Ethan Isaacs scored the lone win for Brownstown Central on Monday night against Charlestown, winning his bout at No. 1 singles 6-3, 4-6, 6-0.
However, the Pirates found victory everywhere else on the court to win the team race 4-1.
Ethan Davis fought hard at No. 2 singles but fell 10-8, 2-6, 4-6 while Kelian East dropped his match at No. 3 singles 4-6, 4-6.
The No. 1 doubles team of Reece Carlin and Griffin Stidam fell 2-6, 3-6 while the two doubles team of Cole Shasteen and Trent Luedeman lost 0-6, 6-8.
Volleyball
Hornets drop game to Clarksville
Medora dropped a road non-conference game to Clarksville in straight sets.
Though the Hornets battled tough, they fell 25-18, 25-15, 25-17.
