Mrs. Doris Virginia Tormoehlen Voss, 96, of Seymour, passed away Wednesday, September 18, 2019 at Lutheran Community Home. She was born in Seymour to the late Walter “Buzz” and Lena (Heidenreich) Huber, both of whom preceded her in death. On February 27, 1944, she married Paul Tormoehlen who preceded her in death in 1969. On June 8, 2002, she married Tom Voss, who preceded her in death in 2015.

Doris had a strong faith and was a member of Redeemer Lutheran Church. She had served in many capacities, including church council and as an active member of Lutheran Women’s Missionary League. She was a graduate of Seymour High School and was employed for many years at the family-owned Huber Shoe Store. She and her first husband, Paul Tormoehlen became owners of the shoe store in 1966.

After Paul’s passing, Doris worked at Montgomery, Elsner and Pardieck Law Firm as a legal secretary and office manager. After her retirement, she was employed as Volunteer Coordinator at Lutheran Community Home (LCH) and served on the Board of Directors of LCH for twenty years. She joined Tri-Kappa Sorority in Seymour at the age of eighteen and after moving to Brownstown was a charter member of the Brownstown Chapter. Doris also served as Tri Kappa State Province Two Officer for two years. Doris’s hobbies included reading, playing bridge, gardening and sewing. She loved to quilt and made a special quilt for each member of her family.

Doris also loved to spend time with her family and is survived by her children, Mike (Barb) Tormoehlen of Columbus, Ohio and Joe (Robin) Tormoehlen of Seymour; stepchildren and their families, Richard (Laurie) Voss of Collinsville, Illinois and Suzanne (Bill) Montgomery of Salina, Ohio; as well as six grandchildren, Nate (Ann) Tormoehlen, Trent (Laura) Tormoehlen, Kristen (Terry) Johnson, Carol (Shawn) Vanzant, Luke Tormoehlen, Jack Tormoehlen and eight great-grandchildren, Ty, Kirby, Cooper, Logan, Jordan, Jalen, Caden, and Lena.

Funeral services will be conducted by Voss & Sons Funeral Service at Redeemer Lutheran Church on Monday, September 23 at 10:30 a.m. with Revs. Andrew Currao and Joseph Barlau officiating. Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery in Brownstown.

Family and friends may call at Voss & Sons Funeral Service Sunday from 2-6 p.m. and at Redeemer Lutheran Church Monday from 9:30 a.m. until time of service.
